Serhat Çevikel was born in 1977 in Istanbul. He received a BA degree in Management from Bogazici University in 1999 and MBA degree from Istanbul Bilgi University in 2009. He worked as an associate in Dis Investment Research Department between 1998-1999 and associate, senior associate and vice president in Is Investment Corporate Finance Department between 1999-2005. During this time, he participated in many IPO/SPO, strategic restructuring, privatisation, M&A, valuation and feasibility projects. In 2004 he acted as a consultant to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources for an arbitration case against Southern Aegean Energy Company. He worked for the merger of TSKB and Sınai Yatırım Bankası. He was a member of the teams for the corporate restructurings of Şişecam and İşbank. The IPO/SPO projects he coordinated and/or contributed includes Vakifbank, Soda Industries, İş REIT, Atakule REIT, Anadolu Life Insurance, İş Leasing, Sınai Yatırım Bankası and Nuh Cement. He contributed to the establishment of İş Venture Capital, the first venture capital company in Turkey. The privatisation projects that he took part includes TEKEL, 16 plants of Sumer Holding, 8 ports of Turkish Maritime Organization, İGSAŞ Fertilizer, Tümosan Tractor and TZDK Tractor.

Çevikel was a Board Advisor to Turk Telekom between 2005 and 2009. He coordinated and/or participated in Turk Telekom’s post-privatisation transition projects including tariff rebalancing, receivables restructuring, staff restructuring, company IPO, M&A’s and new company establishments.

He is pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Finance in Bogazici University Department of Management, focusing on behavioral finance and big data analytics. As a specialist, Serhat Cevikel conducts research studies and lectures in topics spanning company valuation, computer programming, management simulation, behavioral finance, algorithmic trading in financial markets and big data analytics. He lectures Introduction to Computing, Business Valuation, Management Simulation and Money and Banking courses as co-instructor or assistant at Bogazici University and he lectures SQL and Hadoop Essentials course at MEF University. He conducts corporate trainings on financial mathematics, financial management, business valuation and feasibility studies. He conducted a big data analytics and GIS study for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Directorate of Urban Transformation. He authored or co-authored several articles in national and international publications, including an SSCI indexed study. He is also an active participant of the open source development community.
