İ. Mete Doğruer has more than 30 years of experience as a lecturer, economist and researcher. He is a graduate of İstanbul University (B.Sc. and Ph.D.), and he studied at The Ohio State University as a visiting scholar. He gained over twenty-five years of research, teaching and administrative experiences at different Universities and Vocational Colleges. He served as the Head of Department of Industrial Engineering and a Board Member of the Faculty of Engineering at Sakarya University. At Marmara University, he was assigned as the Director of Technical Vocational School and a member of the University Senate. He held the positions of Dean of Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences and Vice Rector at İstanbul Gedik University. He also served as Director at Plato College of Higher Education.
Doğruer is a Professor of Economic Policy, Applied Economics and Industrial Engineering. He is also a researcher and consultant in the fields of economic and political analysis, structural sector analysis, investment decisions and project management.
Being the author of more than 70 papers and publications, Prof. Doğruer has an extensive experience in professional writing in the fields of economic development, project management and using investment analysis methods. Prof. Doğruer has published four books up to now: Fundamentals of Engineering Economics, 1989, 2017; Production Organisation and Management, 2005; Project Management, 2007; and Work Study, 2008, 2014. His books are used as textbooks at universities in Turkey. He presented numerous seminars at different institutions on topics such as social and economic issues of Turkey, Turkey-EU relations, political parties and political development, effective management in public and private sector, investment and investment incentives, capital markets, higher education and project management.
Doğruer has worked as consultant for the department of R&D at İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality. He served as a member of Supervisory Board of Turkish Development Bank. He was a Member of Capital Markets Board between the years of 2003 and 2007. Between 2007 and 2011, he was a Member of Turkish Parliament from Osmaniye province. At the Parliament, he worked as a Member of National Education, Culture and Sports Committee. He also served as President and Member of Turkey-Greece and Turkey-Canada Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups, respectively.
Doğruer is a Member of the Turkish Parliamentary Union and a Member of the Board of its Istanbul Branch as well. He also participates in social responsibility projects. As a part of his volunteer works, he serves as the Vice President of SEKAM (Social, Economic and Cultural Research Center) and YAGEV (Foundation for Developing of Common-Public Education). He is also among the Founding Members of BİRLİK VAKFI, the foundation which is one of the prominent NGOs of Turkey.
